Today we are going to learn 5 more phrases to talk about romantic interests.

Ex is slang for past. So in this case, it means past boyfriend. You can use this for boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, and wife.

So it would be ex-boyfriend, ex-girlfriend, ex-husband, and ex-wife.

I dumped him last week

“To dump” is slang for “to break up”.

The difference is that “to dump” that you didn’t take the relationship seriously.

Or it means that you are a little angry or not happy with the person you broke up with.

It shows a negative perception of them. However, if you say, “He dumped me” it does not have the same nuisance.

“Turn off” refers to something that you don’t like, or something you cannot stand. You find it gross or unbearable.

“To catfish” means to use a picture on an online dating profile that is different from what you really look like.

Because online dating is very big in American now, this is sometimes something that is a problem.

There was even a TV show about it called catfished.

”To ghost” someone means to suddenly disappear, like a ghost.

For example, you stop sending them messages, and maybe ignore their calls.
